No more manufacturing creativity.

If you’ve been following along for a while, you know that I’ve been experiencing a shift when it comes to the presence I want to have online. I’ve shared about wanting to build in time for rest, focus on the little moments, and show up in an authentic way for my family, my friends, and my online community. The way that I show up authentically here is by sharing what’s inspiring me in a creative way.  Since I’ve been sharing on the Internet, I've learned that the path to inspiration is very rarely a straight line. Often, it’s more like a winding road with its fair share of uninspired moments. This can be easy to forget when we’re consuming curated content, but the reality is that sometimes we simply aren’t feeling inspired. In this post, I want to share my personal journey and highlight the importance of feeling comfortable in the day-to-day moments of life. It's not about constantly manufacturing creativity; it's about finding the magic in the ordinary.

Let’s say goodbye to the hamster wheel of constant creativity.

In a world that idolizes productivity and constant innovation, I've fallen victim to the pressure to be creative at all times. You know that I’ve recently broken up with the concept of “the hustle,” and this played a big role! The feeling that we should always be chasing the next big idea or viral moment can be absolutely exhausting. This thought process has a tendency to leave us feeling like we’re falling short when we’re not constantly on fire with inspiration.

But here's what I've come to realize: uninspired moments are not the enemy of creativity; they're its sidekick. Those uninspired moments provide the contrast and breathing space needed for creativity to flourish in due time.'

There is beauty in the uninspired moments.

It’s time to flip the script on how we feel about the moments in our lives that seem to lack creativity. Uninspired moments aren't wasted time; they're opportunities for reflection and recharging. The reality is that we are human beings, not machines. We require time to rest, to build in that margin for creativity. The “normal” moments in our lives may lack inspiration, but they're a chance to simply enjoy life for what it is, without the pressure to constantly perform.

Uninspired moments give us the time to reflect on our journey and recharge our creative batteries. It's like stopping at the top of the mountain to appreciate the scenery. If we constantly get to the top of the mountain and then sprint back down in pursuit of climbing the next one, we’d miss every beautiful thing along the way. Life is really all about savoring the everyday joys, making memories with loved ones, and being present in the now. Sometimes, the most beautiful moments happen when we're not even trying. If we spend our time trying to manufacture creativity, we miss those sweet and slow moments.

I want us all to have permission to just be human.

We're all human, and that means we have our highs and lows. We can't be creative all the time, and that's perfectly okay. Giving ourselves permission to be uninspired is giving ourselves permission to be human. In a way, this is the beauty of building a well-fashioned life.

I've worked hard to build a life filled with purpose, fulfillment, and happiness. To me, the secret is really slowing down enough to enjoy it all. It’s okay to say “no” to constantly striving for more. Sometimes life itself is all we have the capacity for, and that’s okay. When we’ve filled our lives with the people and things that bring us true joy, we’re able to enjoy the little moments within our lives. Life isn't just about constantly chasing the next creative high. Finding happiness in the simplicity of life, whether it's a quiet evening with a loved one or the smell of freshly baked bread, is a form of creativity in itself. It's about finding balance—a harmonious blend of work, creativity, and rest. This balance lets us appreciate the life we've created without the constant need for enhancement.

Creativity isn't a faucet you can turn on and off. It flows when it's ready, often in those unscripted moments. By allowing uninspired moments to exist, we give creativity the space to emerge naturally, when it makes sense.

My journey as a creator in the digital space has taught me that uninspired moments aren't obstacles; they're part of the journey. They're the canvas on which genuine creativity can paint its most vibrant strokes. I encourage you to join me in embracing the everyday. Let's find beauty in the moments that aren’t curated and remember that sometimes, the most profound creativity emerges when we're simply living in the moment.

EN VERITE,

Candace
