Full disclosure. It is as hot as you know what outside and I’m already wearing sweaters. Ok, I’m not wearing sweaters this week, because it is so abnormally warm here in Ohio, but last week I legit wore this sweater with NO SHAME.

Transitional style is something I have really come to enjoy. What I’ve learned about myself this summer is that I am really a creature of habit and wear the same few outfits all summer long! So transitioning those summer looks and making them fall worthy makes things feel fresh, exciting and new. Today I am sharing a transitional look that I feel is perfect for spring to summer or summer to fall! It’s all about those delicious layers.

When I am considering creating a transitional look, I like to focus on color. Colors that tell the story of what season we are actually in, if that makes sense. Without question, lime green screams equal parts spring and summer, making it the perfect color option!  What’s great about this particular look is that it provides warmth with the double layers when things are still cooler in late spring or getting cooler towards the end of summer. For a change of pace, I opted for this ruffled collar button down, rather than a traditional collar, which gives the look more dimension. From there I opted for this cropped kick flare in a moderate dark wash. It is dark, but not ink blue dark, still making it seasonally relevant for spring to summer or summer to fall. To finish off the look, a mule of course. A mule is that perfect balance of wearing a sandal without exposing the piggies. For our climate here in the Midwest, mules are more a spring, summer and fall shoe concept. You are definitely stowing it away for winter, because it is too cold.

And lastly, a little styling. No look is complete without a little finessing. A messy half tuck with both the woven and knit. And lightly exposing the beautiful detail of the woven! And BOOM. A little transitional look.

I hope this sparks some inspiration for YOU.

BEST,

Candace
